Thanks so much Toni. Basically an orange filter increases the contrast on B+W film, giving you more dramatic skies. It actually has much the same effect as amber tinted sunglasses or ski goggles. This particular sky shows what a late season hurricane looks like by the time it gets this far north. I don't remember his/her name, but this particular storm knocked the hell out of the Carolinas.

Wow Richard, two BIPs in 2 days! Congratulations on these -- you earned them! This is a wonderful landscape, the tones in the sky and clouds are superb. What does the orange filter do? This intrigues me because I was thinking about trying one myself, since I like the way things look through my orange sunglasses. I know it's not the same thing, so I am curious. Antonia

Thanks Rebecca. This shot was taken early evening last October. We get skies like this often in the spring and fall. In the summer we are often "plagued" with perfectly boring blue skies. Thanks again for your comments, they are appreciated. It is after all the best way to improve!

This shot is amazing. Perfect composition, The skies are spectacular. What time of day was this taken? Looks like a night shot.
