This is one amazing photo. I can't imagine how you got the focus in just the right spot. My hat is off to you. The colors are unbelievable. Fly's will never be the same for me. Cheers, Bartock

Great macro, Gerhard. The detail is amazing, and I love the DOF. The focus is not perfect, but I bet it's very hard to get it just right shooting such a macro.
Great pic.
Regards.

Dear Noam, many thanks for your nice comment. You are right it's daylight. The fly was sitting on a window frame and I had to fight against this natural "backlight". But based on this difficult light contidions and with this very small DOF everything around the fly was natural blurred white.
Have a nice day,
Gerry

This is an amazing catch. This fly looks as if he just went out from the barber shop. Although you have used a ring flash there is still shadow below the insect, as if the light came also from above it. (Is the daylight?). Regards, Noam.

Deare Arend, I can tell you ... it is a hard piece of work. In the evening the flies are "tired" and they stay longer at their place but you have to try and try it again ;-)
