I thought about cropping but just couldn't get myself to give up the reflections in the water. I like how the reflections go with the blurredpatterns on the wheel. I might try a version #2 at some point with a tighter crop. Thanks brother!

Have you tried cleaning it yourself? It's not too difficult and works perfectly most of the time. Instructions are in the manual. I have also taken it down to Nikon in Torrance a few times as well for super-cleaning.

Dear Erik,
great contribution to the blurry image section. the wheel looks kind of unreal here ;-) good contrast through the dark background.
I'm not so sure about the foreground. It distracts me a bit from the wheel itself which should be the center of this image. I would tend to crop this part.
well done & seen anyway.

Hello, neighbor to the south! I have also lurked around the Santa Monica pier with my D100 while visiting my daughter at UCLA (she graduated this spring).
The long exposure really made for some vivid and fluid colors. I like the vertical orientation. Maybe, to be picky, you could straighten the verticals in PS. It's nice to know the D100 can be pushed to long exposures successfully.
Your entire portfolio is consistently good!

The artefacts........ nah - you got this beautifully....
I have a problem with mine now where the DIRT specks, that are on the Photo-Chip Gel, are clearly visible from long exposure -
I switched the lenses one too many times too carelessly, crap got in behind the mirror, and I am in need of a clean-up.... after all, it's reached almost 10,000 shots already......
I guess it's about time.......
But I'm scared to hand it over to the repair guys, ya know?

No, I see none, but I'm one of those who thinks artifacts are beside the point, especially when you abuse the photo by reducing it to the sizes and resolutions necessary for posting here. What is the point is the brilliant colors, the satisfying composition, the reflections and the general idea. And you succeeded, as usual, brilliantly.
