About	This is one of the most splendid, the wife of Murat III but was halted as Safiye Sultan lost her effective power after the sultans death. The construction of the courtyard was begun by legally expropriating the Jewish quater whereby it was completed and inaugurated by Turhan Valide, the Dowager Sultan of Mehmet IV in 1663.
