Steve I have been using ISO 100 but the real problem is the bird is an early morning or early dusk arriver and I am some times 20-30ft away or she zooms up so close I can't get minimum focus. We never have rain or wind this late, yes that is the wind. I have switched to ISO 200 and will try 400 if the little guy won't come later.By the way about 1/900sec can stop them. If I start getting later visits they will be better at this point this is where it's at Thanks-Rich
A real nice picture monterey, but I'm confused by the settings you've used. 1/60s would be OK to catch motion blur in the wings, but then so would 1/1000s with the speed that a hummingbirds wings move at! The problem here is you have motion blur on the plant too, moving in the wind I guess, and that is distracting.
Don't be affraid to shoot at higher ISO settings, the 300D is pretty good noise-wise!
