I see what you mean now by the original being too flat. I think it needs some more vivid colors to contrast the photo since everything is similar in color. I didn't really like the lens flare. How about some color in the sky and a contrasting color in the water?

I think I may have liked this shot without the added lens flare. This photo attracts your attention to the flare and detracts it from the image.

I like that you managed this shot with no motion blur. I have tried similar shots on L. Michigan, but to no avail. Nicely done.
