About I actually went out to practice some street photography and then the heavens opened, so i couldnt resist!

If i had some time i would clone out those power lines across the bottom of the shot, but hey, this is straight out of the camera.

Exposure 15 Secs, f/11

Great capture of both the cityscape and the lightnings. The road on the right must have a terrible congestion for those cars to be able to seen even with 15-second exposure. Regards.

James, thanks very much. It was moreluck that good management and i was soo excited about maybe being able to capture the lightning that my composition went to crap. With my exposures being between 10 secs and 1 min the lighting allways seemed to strike just after i let go of the shutter, missing the best strikes.

Great shot Wes! For me the powerlines aren't a distraction at all. Like Mark though I do feel that strightening perspectives would add significantly to the image if the liughtning wasn't all to the side (and would hence be lost). Good control of shutter and aperture here to get the best effects of both the small aperture and long shutter. Well done!

Thanks also for commenting on my Craster image... Much appreciated!

the power lines are always a distraction in thailand, as you well know. on the other hand, just being able to capture lightning is enough wez. i've never been able to do it.....

well done ~ james

Fantastic long exposure. I like how the small aperture has tuned the car headlights to stars. As for the perspective distortion, I think it actually works in favor of this image by increasing the sense of drama and uneasiness in the viewer.

It's a great moment. Too bad the lightning is mostly at the side of the building because I actually think straightening the perspective would be more important than cloning out the power lines. Great capture still the same. -mm
