Hi Ian & Dirck - what is really frustrating in this is the uncertainty of working with an very haphazardly calibrated monitor since there is no way to know that we are really talking about the same thing. Make everybody spend USD 200 on a spyder might be just the thing... I do get metal overtones but formally there is no blue in there :-)

Yup Maybe midtones is where I see a difficulty the cracks are there, I'm not getting so much of the malleted thing I'd expect.. Mind you you're shooting the shady side on a grey day?
Mind you I see blue in this... and to further discredit myself blue in the frame for this thing I'm writing the critique in.
Maybe I have monitor issues too...

Stefan, not really light, although I don't see too many really deep shadows - more like lots of midtones that are of very close values.

Thanks Dirck - I'm having some issues with color/monitor profiling. Does this look quite light on your monitor?

Lots of character in that gnarled old tree trunk! It's one of those things, like clouds, that if you look at it for a while you start seeing things - lips, eyes... I'd have to concur with Ian that it's a little 'flat' though.

ok, maybe i'm ill, but the first thing i "saw" in this image was a lifeless arm lying on the tree... it reminded me of a crucifix and immediately catched my eye... i need some vacation and a lot more sleep, i think. :)

Hi Ian - I prefer if you can remain blunt, especially since I value your input... The RB67 is called 6x7 (cm) but the actual negative size is 56x66 mm (I think). Apart from being a detail junkie (an addiction this camera is great at feeding), this tree reminded me of something else in my portfolio: http://www.usefilm.com/image/567837.html
Cheers, -S.

Are those things (Mamiyas) square? I guess 6x8(spose that's not square. I sort of want it to be.
A tad drab? (Oooh how can I be so critical when I know so little, perhaps because I know so little).

Very nice dramatic subject and excellently presented in B&W. Lovely tones and I love the DOF. Nice textures. Cheers - Ann :)
