About The Saturday after Michael Jackson passed away, I went to Harlem in New York City.

Thousands of people gathered around the famous Apollo Theater which bears a silent testimony to the rise of the pop legend. His songs were being played continuously, and people danced to his tunes, amidst shouts of 'We love you Michael'.

27th June 2009, Harlem, New York City.

Though Jackson was nothing more than an overrated product of music industry with a typical US Peter Pan syndrome, I let that aside and I see the image as a well done snap in the realms of snapshot photography. Still the compositon and the angle are very well thought out but the most prevailing element is that of spontaneity and fun, which you absolutely got on spot, Avi. The vivid coloring enhances this and the blurring in the left catches very well the swinging atmosphere. I find the leading lines of the lights at the top of the room very effective too. They add depth and direction to the space and they do that in quite an original way.

Very good one for the sense of a party.

Cheers!

Nick

manual mode, f-stop around 11 - both I do; high iso gives me grains (I use a basic dslr camera) which is sometimes great, but not always.. also, auto-iso option isn't there. as for lens, I am happy using my 17-50 for now... I know 10 can give a wider perspective, but not sure if I wanted that here.

Thanks for the link.. I will check it. Today my daughter is sick, and I feel down..
talk to you soon,
Avi

you know i love hip-level street pictures but most of them are really bad; this is just fine; like most the vibrant colors and movement of the hands clapping, but focus in on the the ceiling and it's framed very tight, perhaps a wider lens had helped; for hip pictures my recomendations are; use the camera in manual mode, use an f-stop around 11 (the best quality), use a fix high iso (800 could be fine) or even auto-iso (better) if you camera has this option; prefocus around one meter and use the widest focal length; with this settings with your 10-22 lense you 'd get a perfect focus from 30 cm to the infinite
