City - Lassen Valcanic National Park State - CALIFORNIA Country - United States
About
This scene was taken at Hat Lake in Lassen Volcanic National Park in Northern California. It is at 6450 feet. This lake is as large as it is because of the beaver dam seen in the lower portion of the photo. Looking back in the lake, you can see the mound of sticks and mud that make up the beaver house. Unfortunately, there were a lot of people around so the beaver was secluded when I took the photo. This national park was established to preserve the natural history surrounding a volcano located here that last erupted in 1914. It is a beautiful place to visit and spend some time. Lots of wonderful walking paths and hiking trails.
