Jon O
Asked by Jon O'Brien    (K=11321) on 12/19/2005

I have a number of rolls of what appear to be oversized slides. On the edges it sasy "Kodak EPP 6005". This is a new one on me. Anyone?

Jon,

EPP is Kodak's three-letter code for Ektachrome 100 Plus, -005 is the corresponding number for EPP and 6--- is the number that represents the 120 and 220 film width. 5--- represents 35 mm film, and 7--- represents 16 mm film, for example. So 35 mm EPP is edge-marked 5005 and 120 EPP is edge-marked 6005.

Kodak re-uses those numbers, by the way.

Best,
Helen

Sorry, I should have added that 120 and 220 film can be used to make 6x6 and 6x7 medium format slides that require medium format projectors, and 4x4 'Superslides' that can be mounted in a 5x5 mount like 35 mm slides. Superslides were normally made with 127 film.

How big are the slides you have?

Best,
Helen

Hello, Helen - of course - medium format slides. That must surely be what they are. Uncut and unmounted (they are in strips) but the film is 6 cm wide and the images are 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 cm.

Thanks very much for your help.

Jon
