  Q. Help with red eye
Peggy Christine Skinner
Asked by Peggy Christine Skinner    (K=26936) on 4/8/2004
I have another beautiful portrait of my niece but the red eye is tremendous. I have tried to correct it in Digital Image but no luck. When I try paint or colourize it just ends up looking like two blue orbs. Can anyone help me so I can post this pic. Her eyes are a soft blue-grey. I will definitely give you credit in the post. Appreciate any help at all.

My suggestion - do you have a program that will allow you to cut and paste images? PhotoShop will allow you to do that - it has a function called "clone." If so, try to find another shot of your niece, or even take a new one - hopefully with out the "red-eye." Take the new one into the program, expand or contract the image so that the eyes are about the same size as the original, and then clone them over to the other shot.

Good luck

Brian

Well, not exactly perfect but maybe a little better? I used the 'retouch' tool (Paint Shop Pro) and selected a color that I though was about right, then painted over with the tool set to 'color to target' until it looked fairly even. I then copied the pupil from her left eye, which was slightly more defined, darkened it and reshaped until it looked more or less natural.
A little less 'demon-like' anyway :)
