  Q. Buying my first polarizer...

Asked by vince wong    (K=72) on 2/13/2005
This is my first time getting any filter, and I don't know which to get. Do all autofocus lenses need circular(it doesn't say in my manual)? Does it matter what brand i get? Should i get a warming filter on it?

yes, all AF cameras that I've ever seen require circular polarisers.
no, you don't need a warming polariser.
get the most expensive one you can get. I swear by B+W filters from their MRC line, costly but superb quality.

I agree with Jeroen, don't try to cut costs here. I use Hoya filters, but there are several brands who make quality stuff.

Yes-thsy all take circular. I agree-get a B&W

B&W or Singh-Ray are the best

Try eBay for used filters. I bought my circular polarizer there

I also bought my polarizer from EBay too. Well worth browsing through to get a good buy! Probably the mist useful filter to use apart from a skylight filter!
