  Q. KODAK discontinuing paper
Mark  - MarkMedia -
Asked by Mark  - MarkMedia -   Donor  (K=1062) on 9/5/2005
I recently read in RANGEFINDER magazine that Kodak is discontinuing production of B&W paper. I wonder if anyone has heard any more specifics? Is it ALL paper, or perhaps only fiber-based paper? Im sure the demand has gone WAY down since digital is growing.

Mark,

Kodak are discontinuing all B&W paper - and that means all. The Portra B&W papers are going as well - the two B&W papers (neutral and sepia) that get processed in standard colour paper chemicals. A great shame, though I guess that it is good news for Ilford.

Best,
Helen

Hi Mark,
I heard it from a friend who works at kodak. They are getting rid of all B&W paper. It's a shame since I really love their paper. One good thing is that most places are putting the kodak papar on sale...so stock up as much as you can.

Old news.

From a JUNE 16 press release:

ROCHESTER, N.Y. ? Ending a century-old tradition, Eastman Kodak Co. (EK) will soon stop making black-and-white photographic paper, a niche product for fine-art photographers and hobbyists that is rapidly being supplanted by digital-imaging systems.
