Q. Beginner Camera Recommendation

Hey Everyone,

I'm completely clueless about which cameras are better than others, what to look for, etc...

I'm looking for a camera that is in the price range of 0 to 300. I want it to be able to take really good action shots as I am going to use it to photograph rugby matches. But at the same time, it would be great to be able to take those really nice looking HD photos. Good batter life would be nice too but isn't necessary. I can always bring backups.

So I know thats really general, but if you could point me in the direction of a good beginner camera with those couple characteristics, that'd be so awesome! :)
