About	Martena state Koarnjum Estate Martena State is a historical place in Friesland, the history here goes back a long way. Around 1400 Sytze Martena lived here. In the following centuries the castle remained in the possession of the Martena programs. The last occupant of the slot was originally Esquire Duco Martena of Burmania Vegelin of Claerbergen. He wore the old state at the end of the nineteenth century to the Reformed Church in Koarnjum. It decided in 1899 to demolish Martena State because of the impoverished state it. Architect Willem Cornelis de Groot from Leeuwarden built the current slot, idyllically situated on an island in the park pond. The eye-catcher of the miniature castle in neo-Renaissance style is undoubtedly the 'sipel`, the onion-shaped roof of the tower. The church has been Martena State in leasehold to the Martena State Foundation and enjoy the protected status as a national monument. Numerous historic items around the property to detect.
