Im sure that there are some places that do a decent job, SOMEWHERE out there...but not here in hamilton, the armpit of ontario... ;)

that interesting to hear. I was wondering if it was worth shooting a little film again and have the negatives scanned at the service. But what you say doesn't sound encouraging.
I'm really spoiled with digital (quality and ease of use).

How sweet! The wagon wheel adds so much to the composition. Good post.

Thanks David.
Most the places ive been that do that service do a pretty poor job of it-lots of lines through the film, and they enlarge horribly.
I've yet to find one that actually scans as well as mine. (and yes, its from print, and the print wasnt that great to start with ;) It was hard shooting this because the dog was so dark, and he had really pale skin. So i did over expose it a bit. Thank goodness we found some shade though!

Such a cute interaction, you can feel the trust on both sides. Alison

cute moment! Did you scan it from a print? I don't shoot film any more (except some B&W that I process myself) but I noticed most placed offer a scan from the negatives with the processing. Maybe that gives you more detail especially in the dark areas (like the dog here).

cute! Are you able to scan now? Back home yet? I need to reply to your questions about my Kansas ties. Will do so on that photo!
