Nope, not so amazing, it is called experience! Since i do alot of night work, especially at speedway, and i have this rule where i refuse to use a flash. Since i dont pull out a flash at night, the only lighting i can use, is the track lighting. The track lighting allows for between 1/20th - 1/125, depending on the colour and shade of each car. The average speed there is 1/45th. So after night after night of panning at these speeds, one tends to become quite experienced in panning, so therefore lifting the hit/miss rate for each shot. All it comes down to at the end of the day, is practice.
