About Who would dare to wake this sleeping giant, rising 6000 meters above sea level?... Parinacota is its name, and the barely seen creatures in the first plane are vicunas, a wildlife relative of the llama.

An awesome capture of an awesome volcano. The detail is excellent and the animals in the foreground add interest and scale. Great shot. I think while the animals are there you are safe because they would be first to bug out of there if it starts to wake up. Animals always sense these things and disappear if nature starts to get dangerous.

Thank you for your comments to my images and I hope you have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Cheers - Ann :)

You are right, better left to sleep... It's an awesome sight. Reminds me of Mt. Fuji here in Japan (no vicunas here, though, except those that have been made into overcoats!).

Thanks Tim :)

yes, it looks a little bit like Osorno, I was also there, but that giant was shrouded in clouds most of the time and I couldn't take a good picture.

Paulo

A nice capture of a beautiful giant, Paulo. I thought that it was Osorno, another grand Chilean volcan I was lucky enough to spend some time in the shadow of.
