A most unusual vision Robert. At first I thought it was a wall the bird was against but now I see it's water. The blues of the bird makes for a lovely colour contrast against the brown water and I like the composition. I'm thinking the quality is fine and it's the DOF and unusual composition which can be misinterpretted as a slight blur. The bird looks to be in good focus to me as is the water. The foreground looks to be slightly blurred intentionally and the water background appears to be fine in my eyes also. I think unless you take into consideration each individual element it's difficult to understand the challenges behind this image. I separated each element in my mind and studied that as a piece then when I see them all put together I think you've done an excellent job considering the challenges. Great shot. I love it.

I forget the crop but it was a large one. Handheld also and cloudy made for a hard shot.

Beautiful colour and detail, Robert, and I like your composition on this one! The bird's brilliant colour really contrasts with the tones of the water.

Great bird and composition, but the image quality seems off. Was this cropped considerably to get the composition above? It looks almost like a 50 or 100% crop.
