Hi Kathy I like the composition here a lot . Your lead in the image is right on and the continues down the river nicely . I think if you drop the sky down just over the 3 trees it might be a little better . To me the sky distracts from the image . try it with just a little sky I think you like it even better .All in all dear lady it's a wonderful shot .Great work ..Glenn..ps: thanks for the nice comments on my work

Uncomfortable as it is during such a freeze it sure does make for some great photos. We had a deep freeze here in Oregon a couple of weeks ago which made for some frozen waterfall shots.
This frozen river certainly has some great elements here Kathy. The ice makes for some very nice patterns and textures as well as omteresting reflective qualities. I love the clarity in the fallen trees and the added interest of the lines in the verticle trees.

Superb winter atmosphere and mood, Kathy! I love the blue cast on the ice, great curved line of the river bend, and fantastic image of the frozen logs! Brrrr, it looks cold! Love the soft light coming through the trees and the cool reflections. Wonderful composition!

Thanks for the nice words. I really hadn't considered cropping it that way...maybe I should have. As a rule (but not a hard and fast rule) when I am photographing reflections I like to have most of what is being reflected left in the shot. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion...something to think about next time!

Beautiful light on the ice and foreground. Kathy, have you considered cropping most of the bright sky from the top? Take a look. It keeps drawing my eye away from the beautiful foreground. Don.

Beautiful play of light on the frozen water. Also like the grey part of it where some reflections can be seen. The contrast between the busy upper right part and clean icy left down side offers the right balance to the shot.A beautiful composition!

Hi Kathy...I had hoped to be posting again following my 'rest' but my stupid computer has developed a very bad limp. It allows me to comment but very little else..Repairs start on Friday.
This is a lovely Wintry shot that looks pretty darn cold to me. I love the reflections caught in the icy surface and the way you have caught the curve in the river.Beautiful Winter tones and great details throughout.. Hope to 'see' you again soon sweetie. Best wishes..Ray

Let's see...my exact words when I opened this up were, "Wow, cool!"
It looks just slightly painterly and I love the tones.
This would be a perfect photo for the January page on a calendar.
