I got a Gretagmacbeth Eye One and profiled my monitor. At first the prints were darker than the screen. Did a bit of research on the web and picked up a few tips. Reprofiled the monitor with a lower luminance setting (80) instead of the recommended 140 for LCD monitors. Downloaded the newer Epson profiles and now the prints are 99% same as the screen. The B&W option is superb. So far have tried a variety of papers. The watercolour radiant white is awesome. Can't wait to try the Velvet art paper. Now need a second mortgage to keep up a supply of inks. Cheers John

Hi John, Yes I am back from all my travels. I was on the road for close to 4 months and am biting on the bit to get back out there once again. WOW a Epson 2400.....must be nice. I was looking at it this summer but I decided to wait till I am more settled before buying one. I also find that getting what you want out printers to be somewhat of a constant trial that requires more of my time then I want to devote at this time.....have you a special method to get what you see on the monitor out of the printer?

Excellent b/w tones, Tim! I like your composition, with the foreground grass. Dave.

Quite a change to see a b and w from you Tim, I reckon you could make a fortune with a chain saw with all that lumber.

What? B&W from Tim Schumm?? Hold me up, Mildred...
Very nice, too. Quite a change. Oddly enough I posted a couple of B&W the other day for the first time in quite a while.

I think the strength of this picture comes from the sky. I wonder if it was cropped differently if it would be more powerful?

Great range of textures Tim.Plenty of firewood on the beach for the bar-b-que. You must be at home again after your big trip? Thanks for your comments on my Picture. I have ben absent from Usefilm for a while. It was just too hard to load an image and I had other things to do. Purchased a new Epson 2400 printer. At last great B&W prints from an Inkjet with good archival properties. The picture you commented on makes a great A3+ Print. Now going to start work on putting an exhibition together. Happy New Year. Regards John

Very dramatic scene, but the tones seem rather consistent across the entire image. Perhaps dodging and burning select areas might bring them into clearer focus and/or enhance the impact of their role in the scene.
