hahaha, Hi Kelly!! yes, polar bears do live up there. I also did (for almost 11 years!!) Though I did have holidays to "escape" back to civilization for brief stints. Actually, cold really is just a state of mind... it purifies the soul!! (o; Of course, you southerners will strongly disagree with that!! hahaha Thanks for the comment and have a wonderful day. Cheers, Gary

Great capture of the ice crystles. I bet they are fun to walk on and hear the crunch. What wonderful patterns they create. Who lives in this weather any way? Polar bears? Kelly

Hi Gary, Wonderful image from the magic hour - giving those warm hues to such cold subjects. I like how you have given depth and definition to this unique frost phenomena by shooting when the sun was low on the horizon, casting long shadows. Nice job.

Hi Ina... thanks for the comment. These were definitely interesting little frost tufts. Only ever saw them on the sea ice near where the tide water would seep onto the ice. Very interesting and difficult to catch.
Yes, thanks, had a wonderful time in Brampton and southern Ont, though I have to admit, the weather was really kinda crappy the whole time i was there!!
Cheers, Gary

Wow Gary, this is awesome! I don't know what could produce such formations - I've never seen anything like it! They look like little ice waterlilies on a pond. Amazing lighting and capture! Hope you had a nice visit in Brampton :) Ina

YAY!! Hi Gary, So glad you could make it. Hope you have a late note from your mother. (hehe) We missed you. I've been checking your portfolio every day waiting with baited breath for your next post. OK....enough ego boosting. :)
I love these little tufts. So unusual against the soft blue. Well I know it's not really blue but it appears blue as it's frozen. So beautiful. The entire image seems to sparkle as it catched the light. A lovely image to post after such a looooong sabatical from Usefilm. Welcome back. :)
Cheers - Ann :)
