Well I'll be darned Tony. That's amazing!! Sure had me fooled. What a great technique. Thanks for taking the time to share that with me. I have a flat bed scanner so I'll have to try that out. Ingenious!

Thanx for taking the time to comment Ann.No table here!All of these objects were placed on a flat bed scanner and with the lid up you get the black background!Moving the different elements round until you feel the composition just right is what takes most time-very similar process to arranging a normal still life on a table,previous to sorting out the lighting-and then moving them all around again!.Removing all the white specks-dust- also takes a while but in Photoshop this can be done going to Noise-remove dust and then Selective colour-black,and then some fine tuning in Curves.Try it, it's fun but don't forget to put a transparent acetate layer down to protect the scanner's glass.

Now this is very cool. It all looks like it's floating around in space. Of course they are all probably laying down on a table or similar but the black background gives this a definite 3D effect. Super colours and textures. The aging process from new to deterioration is very effective with this downward flow in composition. Great work Tony.
