Wow! I love this one. The perfect title.
So often soft pastels and subtle colors appear washed out in photos. Many times the photographer increases saturation to try to recreate the impact seen at the time the shot was taken. This can be effective, but it destroys the soft delicacy of the pastel colors. I think you have retained the beauty of the pastels here by using contrast instead, to increase the difference between the dark and light, while preserving the softness of the color.
Also, the panoramic style crop you have done works extremely well with the horizontal lines in this image. I think this excellent decision brings a great impact to the shot without having to increase saturation. So these decisions are working together very well together here!
