Himmmm .. I think it depends on the viewer and how he sees it,
A sentimental person, will see it as you said.
A Materialistic person, will think how to sell it as scrap and invest this money in buying a new one.
A politician, will think how to blame Iran and go through some bombs :)
A Quality Control agents, will see it as a shameful device :)
And I see it as a very nice creative composition with great lighting :)
