I admire your mastery in creating great composition of every set of elements. No matter which category you work on.
We can see a good knowledge of aesthetic principles that supports an artistic, poetic n subtle look which discovers n extracts the beauty and the "word" from everything & everywhere.

thanks for your interest.

Perfect analogy, actually metaphorically speaking there is no difference how the stairs are made from or coming from! I feel the human mind structured on a short term of pension and the secret is one who waits longer it benefits from the answer! You see Kiarang your capture trigger my skepticism :) EXCELENT PRESENTATION!!!
Cheers,
Harry

yes, nice one! good composition; the tones could be better accented, there are too many midtones (a bit grey in grey), and maybe also a bit burning and dodging to lead the view.

Tom

Perfect work MR. Alaei.
I wish the upper right corner of the roof were complete. DOF make the distant a little blurry but the disinction between the close stairs and the distant is not obvious, that makes this photo full of illusions, and it's very good and kind.
Some important Details missed due to B&W nature but I would recommend you to use Filtered B&W instead of just converting to B&W (If you did so).
Best Regards,
Mohammad Porooshani

Excellent composition, Kiarang! The steps are so steep, it looks like a great hardship for the man to reach the top. This is a nice capture Kiarang, I like the composition and the angle in here, it generates kind of wide angle feeling.
The only thing that I might think about is the boosting up the contrast a little more to give more details,
Beside that, it is just wonderful,

I believe I remember seeing this image before. I don't remember seeing this in an almost square crop though? I think it would look better with just a vertical rectangle format. I don't know though I'm guessing this is just one of those images that could work many different ways. I love the various staircases througout the image-I'm guessing that its just as much work to "get to work" as it is "working". Nice find Kiarang~

I have seen this before and ofcourse I like the B&W-one the most.Perhaps a bit more contrast but on the whole it's a very good photo and croppped well. I come back from Ethipie very ill and that's the reason you didn't seen still pictures of me. I'm recovering now and soon I will join the pictures on Usefilm I hope. Regards. Femke

Paul's Photos Paul's Photos   {K:35235} 2/26/2006
It looks like you cropped the original which sometimes adds difficulty to keep the focus and sharpness strong. I agree the more contrast could cause some problems. I did some quick work with the image but I think you would need to start with the original..anyway, great image and let me know what you think.

  0

Paul's Photos Paul's Photos   {K:35235} 2/25/2006
I think I saw this in color before.. I like this version more, and I like how you cropped the image... nicely composed and great perspective. the only thing I would like to see improve is the contrasts could be stronger...in other words, the b/w is not real strong or dynamic in its tonal range... but great work

Excellent composition with bold lines, textures and great timing! Very well done Kiarang. The emphasis on the steep stairs in the foreground tells me: Life is there - YOU have to walk it!

I aggree with Gayle - the grey tones are a bit flat and a bit more contrast would give the image more depth and atmosphere. The washing line on the right - no spce to crop it out - I would rather try to clone it out. Other than that - excellent shot!

Very nice, the lone figure adds a sense of isolation to his environment & the lines of stairs is fantastic. Just an opinion Kiareng, a little more contrast will bring some needed ummpf to the composition, otherwise well seen & taken, regards.

Giuseppe Guadagno Giuseppe Guadagno   {K:34002} 2/24/2006
First, I like very much its originality: the geometric laying on of dark/white lines, all horizontal, on different levels and angle. So comes out the vertical figure of the man. Kiarang has left a narrow space for critic: a bit more focus in the stares in the bottom; a small cut on the right to put out the hanging sheet. This shape does not harmonize with the rest, disturbs.
Bravo.

Giuseppe

Maravillosa Kiarang!
7++
Merecedora de premio, en mi opinión.
Un abrazo
kike

hi,you are my first critique in the new critique corner!
This composition says to me that you have chosen to record the simple, everyday Iranian moments that you deeply feel...you are also capturing the sense of time passing, and act unfolding...

Vantage point seems important and is well chosen...you seem not to be as concerned with definition of details, but rather with this man's moment and movement through his daily life...

The B/W tone is well suited to this image because it does not distract, and in my opinion, strengthens the simplicity of the image...It helps to reduce the elements to complementary shapes and lines....your crop makes this well balanced...

I don't see the tonal range that i like and get with film,so would suggest that you work on your contrast levels and/or digital conversions to B/W

Good work,Kiarang! I feel you have a good eye and sensibility with this kind of photography...
best regards and peace,gayle

Great composition, with a complex graphism. The man in the corner gave the human proportion. The DOF is great too giving the sense of perspective.
Congrats!!!

la composición de esta imagen es bellísima.
Sólo tengo algo que criticar, creo que has aclarado la cara del hombre que está subiendo la escalera y se nota una aureola más clara al rededor de su rostro. pero en general es una exelente foto.
