John, I love it for this photo project, I was playing around with the same subject for this category along with some other idea’s but got side tracked and never posted them. I think this is over the top as far as a natural pattern, a pattern in nature. I tried plain old yellow corn and was never that happy with the result. I love your idea of going with the Indian corn! Not only do I admire the geometrical shape and complexity of this but also the colorization pattern within each kernel. It’s over the top! But, for some reason it just doesn’t have impact. I’m not sure why though. I shot many angles of corn over the past and I prefer the angle and composition you used here. Maybe if you tried the same shot but wet the corn down with water or oil or whatever, or bumped the saturation or the contrast a notch or two.. Maybe step down the primary light and step up the side light to feather the light across the contour.. I’m not sure.. but I can tell you that the tiny dust specks are a distraction, that’s the only constructive criticism or suggestions I can give other than complementing your choice for Indian corn for this project.
