For me I like the way you have caught this and not so keen on the other two examples.
I like the foreground the way it is as this gives a nice base to the image and helps the eye move up and down the picture.
The other example takes away what for me the light is all about.
Subtle light and a balanced composition.

It's over 40 years since I last saw this view, and I'm grateful to have it shown so beautifully. You've captured the unusual quality of the light and the play of water and waves is just what was needed in the foreground.

Congratulations for the award on this well deserving photo.. Good light and details in the mountains. I like the different layers seen here, the cloud layer, the mountains and the surf.. I think i like not so contrasty effect, it creates a mood and a sense calmness..

Very well composed having the water lead you to the mouatinas. Also the beautiful colors in the sky attract you this picture.
I just brought up the contrast and shadows in photoshop to make the picture a little sharper and to get rid of the haze in the mountain. Hope you like it.

Hi Paul. The smoggy effect is wind whipped spray being backlit by the sun. I think it gives it the necessary ethereal look.

congrats on the POD, great work. I love the colors and the lighting, the landscape is excellent. What distracts me a lot is that the image has a foggy look to it..I am guessing this is because of the low lighting and that your shooting into the sun. It definitely sets a mood but for me it has a smog like look to it. But again, the landscape is great... and the mountains in the distance add to the overall composition.

Very nice shot. There is a lot of depth in it. I like the smooth tones and colours a lot. I believe that the photo would be much better if there would be something of interest in the foreground (on the beach maybe...)
