About
This photo was taken in Crawfordville, Ga in 1999. I used Kodachrome 64 Film, Minolta 7000 Lens and Tokina 21-35m Lens to get this perspective. Crawfordville is town that stood still since the 1930's. Recently, I talked to a gentleman whom still lives there. He told me that nothing is new there, no plans for future of town, and Convenience store ( only one) closes about 6:00 P.M. A little hard to believe , but true. There have been a couple of movies made in this town that has stood still in time. Moreover, there are no public schools in this county. I just noticed my "portrait in tiny mirror across other side of store.
Aah, Tokina 21-35, what a lens! Before going to the photo, Chuck, just be glad you have it! I also had one but it was stolen - out of a bag full of lenses some guy took only one, namely exactly this one! Have to search for another one.
An unusual one, Chuck! You combined the inner space of the shop with the open air. It gives a bit of the impression of a shop that is there but in the transition to non existence. Just as if it were disappearing exactly in the time of the photo shot.
The other unusual but very interesting thing is that greenisch hue that you see everywhere, except for the red toy car in front of the chair. It makes the photo to something that comes from yesterday and matches the atmosphere very very nicely.
And last but not least the deserted street. Like stopping time and life - quite extraordinary!
An excellent shot of that kind that doesn't need to scream to cause interest. It simply tells a story. And it does this very very well!
hi, nice to hear that towns like this one still exist...a few still remain in some parts of WA state...great perspective, subject matter and the greenish cast adds to that vintage photo look regards, gayle
Thanks Paul: I do not get too many comments these days. But that does not bother me at all. I am in no competion with anyone. I appreciate your fine comment. And believe me CRAWFORDVILLE, GA IS A RETRO TOWN. cHUCK
