About
This lone tree grows on a rocky outcrop at a fork in the middle of the river near Randolph's leap. The tree is very shapely and to the human eye seems like a perfect photographic opportunity, alas film/digits sees only in two dimensions and the tree becomes lost amongst the backdrop of tangled beech and birch. For the first time I saw a way to make the Scots Pine tree reveal itself, snow is such a powerful reflector of light, the sky above was deep blue and the tree and rocky outcrop were in shade, meanwhile the background, was lit by the warmer yellow light of direct sunshine. By throwing the background slightly out of focus and using the blue cast reflected from the overhead sky, the tree was miraculously revealed. please visit my website at www.transientlight.co.uk
