About This gull was standing right on the edge of the pier on a foggy day. He just kept looking down at the water.

Looks sort of down and out and suicidal:):). A good capture my dear Laura and a wonderful bold crop. Very best wishes.....Ray

Hi Laura, The wind ruffling up those feathers adds the finishing touch here. Very well captured, and I like the rather minimalist surroundings, allowing full attention to be drawn to the gull. Very good shto, and a nice composition, unusual, but effective, it manages to take the photo out of the ordinary perfectly. I'd only wish it were just a tad sharper...

Cheers,

Hugo

it makes me think of a man, a very old one with his hands locked on his back, his head down and a deep look, a look which seems so careful but just a wandering one in his dreams! this nice bird reminds me of that! you can talk to them, don't you?
well done Laura!

Funny! He needs bifocals, I think, to see the water! Great details and perspective.

I was thinking trademark elegant presentation would be confusing so separated the single center word from the other two in the phrase using quotes to make it less confusing. I was right, poorly phrased! I have not heard your presentation called elegant before, although I don't doubt that it has been . . . or should be. It certainly is. I'm glad you pointed it out, I wouldn't want people thinking the wrong thing!

...Regards,
...Doyle I <-----

I appreciate that! The thing that threw me was "elegant" presentation." Ordinarily placing a comment in quotations marks means you have heard that but don't agree! For the record I am a very sensitive soul! lol

Laura:
I have great respect for your work. You should ABSOLUTELY not be insulted. I certainly meant no offense. ;) Probably I just phrased my thoughts poorly.

Sincerely,
...Doyle I <-----

Re:"Laura:
While you have some amazing bird captures this is not (pardon me for saying so) one of my favorites. You have good perspective and the (as usual) brilliant composition but, to my eye, the focus is a bit off. You also have what has become you trademark "elegant" presentation." I am not sure if I should be insulted?

What was it what he was looking for, Laura? At least he could have kept still;)
