nicely done here. typical of asian workers who cover up.... can look a bit mysterious to the first timer in asia but is quite common to see.
my only complaint here is that its a bit underexposed i think. but maybe not.... really hard to say. good DOF and well framed on the other hand.

Mary Sue,
The reason he uses the shirt as a hood is too keep the sun off of his head and to keep the boards he is carrying from rubbing his neck and ears I would imagine. It was about 85-90 degrees out so it wasn't for warmth. The tropical sun is extremely bright and can really take its toll on an unprotected head.
They are hard to see but the boards he is carrying weigh about 100 lbs and are about 12 feet long. They carry them down 10 inch wide gang planks that are up to 15 feet above the water from the sailing ships to the dock. They do this all day every day for the equivalent of a few pennies a load.
http://www.usefilm.com/showphoto.php?id=7601 shows another person carrying the wood, the background is the hull of the ship. He also has a protective cloth over his head so I would suspect it is also to keep from getting splinters in his ear or neck.

This is amazing. His eyes really jump out at you, and the colors are perfect and simple. Can you tell me why he used his shirt as a hood? Was it for warmth?
