Whoa, that is one superb bug shot! I love the head-on point of view, the contrast of the front of the wings against the "net" of the rest of the wings, and the bent front leg which almost gives the beast some character. So that's where the idea for helicopters came from... Congrats on the award!

Hi Sal,

Looking at this photo is very inspiring; It creates a feeling of a mechanical bug, a helicopter waiting to take off, yet with some very organic details. Great shot, very well captured indeed. Love the details in this one. Strange enough, the full size image doesn't really add to the experience of this photo; the smaller size is already of an outstanding quality. Impressive shot!

Cheers,

Hugo

Fantastic macro!!! Taken like this, it makes this 'ugly bugger' even look beautiful... ;-DDD Super details and DOF, love the panoramic crop and the reflection in his one eye(s), excellent composition, great colors... well captured!!! BTW it almost looks as if he's taking a bow... you've trained him well... LOL!!!

When they built the first helicopter it must be this insect that inspired them! :) GREAT macro shot.

I have the original post of this one in my favorites.

Detail is very sharp. Looks good in the pano mode, but I think I think I still like the original post.

Sal, this is a great Macro. The composition, the detail, the clearity, the fact that he let you get in his face it is fabulous.
