What is intended by that pose?

Hey Chris:
This image is sure generating a lot of looks. Guess it works!
I understand about the ringlighting. New idea to me. I think the most important thing is 'did you accomplish what you set out to do'? It seems you have. I don't mind the shiny ass. And I have no reservations about saying ass either, as I'm called one all the time!
I still think her whole head should have been in the image.
And I like the image better now, knowing the background of the shot. Not that I met the background in the shot, lets not get confused, I mean OF the shot. You know...
Sorry. Just being an arse.

Matt and Chris:
I actually like the lighting on this in the fashion sense of things. And Matt, as for her shiny arse, I'm sure many men find it appealing -- to me it makes me wonder which fashion she is selling -- the outfit or the round little butt? Guess sex sells...
seriously, though, Chris -- this is a very professional fashion shot, from what I can tell and some people do not understand fashion shots -- they are in to a little bit of a different type of photography, which there is nothing wrong with -- it is just different.

Chris,

Ahh I see. Style II indeed does have this same effect. I think it's just one I don't like. It has been confirmed by my girlfriend though as a current style that's doing the rounds - see, like I said... I know nothing about fashion photography. Thanks for the explanation. PS - What are your thoughts on her shiney arse?

Hi chris if you simply cut and paste the url from the style II shot, I would autogenerate a link like this http://www.usefilm.com/showphoto.php?id=7607

Nice shot

This shot was done with a ring light for the purpose of having the dramatic light/halo shadow effect. Moving her further from the background would have actually increased the shadow.

Please my Style II shot for another example of this light effect.

It's understandable that some may not like or appreciate this look, but it's a look/common fashion style of lighting.

Chris.
As with many others currently on line I was drawn into this shot because of the vibrant colours and of course due to the model 'element'. However from one who knows nothing about fashion photography and next to nothing about general photography I was a little dissapointed. I'm not keen on the halo effect and find the shine on her buttocks a little cheap looking - I think the pose doesn't help that either! On the positive side I then checked out your portfolio - AMAZING. So enough said... just bin this photo and get on with more beach shots. Wonderful image in the trees too.

Hey Chris:
I love the colors. Nice and clear shot, intresting pose, and a beautiful model.
I wish her head wasn't cropped though. I also think she should have been just a little further from the background to avoid the shadow.
