I think this is a great portrait Mohammad, the way you have placed him in the frame and the closeness of the face give it a very dramatic look, tell him he looks VERY COOL! Alison

I love the mono tones Mohammad and the bold crop isn't a problem for me but I would always prefer to see the eyes in some way in a portrait, especially one of a child. Did you know that there is one thing that we are born with that never changes size during the rest of our lives....The eyes my good friend. This is why children always appear to have huge eyes. I can understand Mahan wanting to show his sunglasses but try a shot of him peering over the top of them and revealing his eyes as this is a possible alternative and he will still look way cool. I think this is a wonderful first try and although I am doing more and more portraiture I too am still learning. Well done to you my dear friend. Just keep taking lots of shots. My very best wishes to you as always.....Ray

Thank you a lot Galal, the color version is not in my favoritee side, because the green color of right side distract eyes from Mahan that I don't want to, the main subject is the sunglasses not Mahan itself anyway! Mohammad

For a surreal effect, this is well done, Mohammad! I like the tight crop and can like the photo as it is. It is pleasurable to view and light hearted like a child's inaginations. Eb

Dear Doyle, because of my equipments (I mean my PRIMITIVE camera) I have no control over DOF now (I will buy a SLR as soon as possible!), the only control is in the F stop and the Aperture which will tight and wide the DOF range, but it's so primitive in my camera! well, about the cropping, I'm easy on that, I like it because of Mahan's Charactristic (I always say he is one half beneath Earth hehe! although he is still 5, he is very charming) and he talks with his eyes very good, I just wanted to introduce him. His father is a camera man, so, he will be a great model for me. Thanks for your great comment on my work and my last posts. you post me very valuable Informations, I appreciate them a lot. My very bests to you my friend, Mohammad

Mahammad my friend: Mahan sounds like a charming young man and I do like the B&W effect in this capture. The off-center setting works well and the DOF is also good. Although my personal preference in portraits is to remember that the eyes capture the soul, I can see why you elected to use the sunglasses (and, by the way, whitex sounds cooler that matrix to me anyway). To get better impact, I would recommend that you use a shallower DOF (to blur the shrubbery on the right even more) and avoid cropping the head (at both top and bottom). The left side crop is a tad too close as well. Good luck in your experience in portraiture . . . I'm sure you'll become quite good at it.
Regards, Doyle I <-----
