Desaturation is just the right touch for this shot. That, and the square crop, make it much more than a quickie snapshot. The background is not a distraction to my eye; it places them in a homey context. Well done, Amy!

Now this is not a bad shot. The background is a little distracting, taking away from the shot a little. I do like your intentional use of over exposure and the expressions are wonderful. Framing is good, you have captured a real moment.
