Thanks for your commnent Hugo, and thanks for the advice on Photoshop, but I have Photoshop Elements that came with the camera, so maybe some things missing in this version. In the drop down menu of the layer menu I can't find "screen", so I couldn't try your suggestions. You're version, by the way, is much better yet, the one Laura did had a much bleeker sky and clouds, and I didn't like that. The castle however was better than mine.
I should play more with PS, but I haven't got the time, busy working and answering comments, and so on. Very happy with your comments. And yes, Haarzuilens is one of the finest castles in our country, but help and money is needed, because some parts are in bad shape.

Take care, cheers,

Klaas

Guess I'm not the only one with that suggestion....:) Should've read the comments before writing one, I guess.

Cheers,

Hugo

I thought it was Haarzuilens...:) One of the finest castles in the Netherlands, don't you think?

The image is a bit dark and murky looking, but nothing you can't fix with some (basic) photoshop tools.... See attached (getting sick of that critique yet?...)

I copied the entire image onto a new layer, set the layer mode to "screen"(see drop down box in the layer menu) and then selected the blue tones using "select colour", applied a feather of 5px and erased the selection, showing the deep blue sky again...

Cheers,

Hugo

Thanks for visiting and commenting my photo´s Howie, I like your version better, because th sky didn´t change like in the one Laura did. I´m not much of a PS worker, so I don´t know how that works with the layers and all. Maybe sometime I´ll learn.
I´m very flattered by your kind words, I always try to look at the compo before letting the shutter work.
Take care, and regards from Holland,

Klaas

I Really like the composition here and the view is wonderful. It does come accross just a little dark on my monitor. Hope you dont mind but I did enhance this a little using curves and creating a seperate layer for the sky. Excellent eye for composition.

Thanks Jacques for the pun, I don't think it's to dark, but that's a matter taste I suppose, Laura was thinking the same as you. I found it important to have a blue sky, so I did the lighting on the sky. The side of the Castle was a bit "shadowed" at that momnent. You should look at the one Laura edited, maybe you like that one more.
Have a nice sunday, take care,

a high "Klass" architecture ;) , maybe a little bit to dark, but the sun wasn't your friend for this side of castle. A real nice place my friend.

Thanks for your kind words Jennifer, it was a vey nice day in a beautiful atmosphere last sunday.
The castle really looks like a fairy tale castle, the one Walt Disney probably looked at very well when he created Disneyland. You should see this.

Thanks Meldijana, it's good to read your complimenting comment, it's indeed a very nice spot, I think we have to visit these gardens once again, when there's no fair or anything else, probably it's more relaxed than.
It's storm and rain over her now foor the weekend, so good weather to UF a bit more.
A nice weekend for you too,

Klaas

Thanks Michalis for your kind comment, I think you're probably right about a bit of improvement with PS, but I like my photo's as they are taken, and except from a bit of framing I'm not much of a PS worker, plain, pure and simple.
Thanks again for visiting and commenting, very much apriciated, have a nice weekend,

Klaas

It's good to see you like the building so much Laura.
I took the light of the sky to made this one, so thats why the castle is a bit lower on the light, but that was the situation the time I took this picture. If I hadn't done that, the sky would be overexposed. I like your version a lot, but the effect on the sky is that the clouds look almost as one big white thing. I like that less. Ofcourse I don't mind, if I did, I could better not post anymore. and from you I could take just about anything. (LOL)
Take care and have a nice weekend,

Klaas

Thank you Doyle for again such nice words on my photo. When yoy can pay for a "house"like this, you probably don't have to worry about money, so you can pay 1 or 2 gardeners as well. It used to be from a very wealthy family, but now I think It's still in family-hands, but the cost of keeping it in shape are hughe, so some help from the outside is needed.
Hereby the castle information, as you've probably already read it on my last posted castle photo.
Take care,

Klaas

Castle information:
De Haar already had its current, large pentagonal ground plan in the fifteenth century. It probably got this shape after the castle was destroyed in 1482 as a result of the quarrels between the Bishop and the city of Utrecht.

After this, the castle was rebuilt, but in the course of the eighteenth and nineteenth century it fell into disrepair. The ruinous condition came to an end as from 1890, when the young owner baron Etienne van Zuylen van Nijevelt decided to have the ancestral castle restored in grand style. In 1892 the first activities at the castle started. In a few years time an impressive castle would arise by incorporating the existing, still high-rising, fifteenth century walls. Nowadays the result can be viewed by anyone who wishes to visit.

Hi Hilton, thanks for your kind words on my photo. ADSL is a great improvement, you'll see. My work laptop is still on ISDN, which is quicker than a phoneline, but I'd put it on my own ADSL line now, and never have to wait anymore. Looking forward to see some new work from you. UF takes a lot of time too, every day about 2 to 3 hours at least.
The same weekend for you, regards and take care,

Klaas

Very nice photo. Scenery is great. Composition is very good. I think that a bit of editing (with respect to colours and sharpness)in Photoshop could improve your photo substantially.
Well done,
Michalis

WOW that is an awesome building. Your image is well composed, with good details. Light level seems a tad low IMO. I took the liberty of making some adjustments. I hope you don't mind.

Beautiful, Klaas. Ok, somebody had a beautiful home, but my gardening and house cleaning is (and always has been) a LOT easier! I take it this is a tourist spot now and not the castle home of some wealthy person? The scenery is amazing.
