Hi Joggie,
Yeah, that's definitely close to what I had in mind; interesting how each individual step in the post processing adds up, always known that, but it's definitely a good reminder...:) I tried to photograph some holographic material for a website, and capturing the propper array of tones in the reflection / refraction is quite difficult....
Cheers,
Hugo

Hi Hugo, Thanks very much for your thoughtfull comment. Regarding the warming filter - You are perfectly correct, it came as an after-thought and I did not want to do everything all over again. On the light you are correct again. my prepared shot was fine but during the conversion I lost the punch (light and saturation) - had my working mode wrong and the jpeg conversion did the rest. Unfortunately I did not look at the image after upload due to time constraints and noticed it only after about comment number 10. I've attached the correct version. Thanks again for your valuable input - it is very much appreciated. Regards. Joggie

Hi Joggie, Again a very intriguing image. My initial reaction was one of an areal view, showing a hurricane from space. Well composed, but tha's no surprise.
Just curious why you used a warming filter; that's something you can tweak when importing the RAW file, and with more control over the options, I'd say.
I think a bit more pronounced light would've been an option here, showing the depth of the shell, and it's array of colours in the refraction, if you know what I mean, can't quite find the word ("paarlemoer" - just in case)
Cheers,
Hugo

As I expect of you Joggie, your eye has picked up on what is often taken for granted and revealed a beauty. I like the fact that the spiral is fractured as it gives a similar feeling as in architectural ruins. Perhaps it lifts the imagination. There is a strange sense of depth or dimensionality where the spiral recedes to become out of focus. The detail is beautiful and your adjustments are well done. However, you can not overcome quality loss due to your lens being less than its best at f/22. Eb

We all would have kicked this seashell walking on the shore. You have picked it up and changed in a beautiful photo. Thanks for sharing. Ciao.

In this I see the ruins of ancient Greece. In thumbnail, the image is intriguing but one is not prepared for the final image. I won't say the image is a let-down from the thumbnail, but the thumbnail promises one thing and something different is delivered. For me the expectation was architectural whereas the delivery was organic. Wouldn't mind seeing the unfiltered version for comparison. Well seen.
