About The first in my series from Hong Kong.

I have been beyond busy, and just about my entire first visit to Hong Kong was spent at either the company I was working with, or the Hotel. For 4 solid days, I managed to squeeze in moments for pictures.

On the last day, I was led up to the roof of the Hopewell building, where I was for almost all of my visit. A quick dash up 4 flights of stairs, wish signs that said in Cantonese, and English, "Don't Go Up to the Roof".

My first trip was with the 15mm superwide (thanks to all the suggestions from everyone here for making take a wide lens). The last trip was at sunset with the 70-200L. That is when I got a view of HK that is unlike the rest... the soul of the massive little city, looking into it, rather than over it from the mountain peaks that surround the city. (yes, I have *lots* of pictres from 'The Peak'.. those will come later..as I bet they are as average as Gold Gate Bridge image around here) ;)

Sorry it's been a while since posting and commenting! The day job was winning all my time!

I hope you enjoy these images! Comments welcome!

cheers,
-J

Thank you Hugo!

Love your portfolio on HK! I think we saw with the same eyes! Don't you love the way the fog hid the lights at night! My hotel had the most amazing view of HK Island. I would sleep w/ the curtains open, and jet lag would wake me for the sunrise.

I like this image too. it's the one I keep looking at for long spells. I love how Jeanette see it... fake plastic trees. brilliant, and I so agree!

I've attached a picture from my hotel room. I could not get use to the view. Could not decide if the picture was worth posting (like just about all my images from HK!) just a magical city that must been seen to be believed... it's rare that one has a chance to return after taking 100's of sour images of the city...now I can't wait to get off the plane w/ my lens cap off the entire time... at least when i'm not workin.

cheers, and thanks again!

What a great image Joel I love the separate pockets of interest all touching on the driveway. There is a lot to look at here; all of it interesting and visually attractive with the straight and curved lines, and touches of colour. Thanks it's great!

Cheers

Hi Joel,

I love these hotel room windows. And I think it's great to see what you came back with. Lot's of similarities in style with the few photos I ended up with in the rare spare free hours whilst in HK.... Those people work long hours....

Not to boost my photos, but for comparison: http://www.wolfdesign.nl/thumbnails.php?album=10. Wouldn't surprise me if there were more similarities in approach...

I like how they planned meticulously to use every square inch of their turf to build on. Roads passing underneath buildings, pavements running trough them, and so on. That shows very well in this top down view. Well aligned and composed too.

Cheers,

Hugo
