Hello Danielle,
I really like your photo but as before the first one mentioned if you really want to do a moody photo you have to deal with the photograph first that you have taken.
YOU have first to try a different black and white level.
Try not to blur much the photo you want to make moody
as sharpen as could be, but in my opinion i always do if i want to make moody photos i use diffuse channel.
And the last one i wanted to say you if you want a really good moody photo try to say to the model or the person you're going to take the photo NOT to look at camera but somewhere 45 degree horizontal or down. never straight especially children.

Some of the elements required for shadowy moody photos are already present; the directed light, the expression, a relative dark background...
To get a stronger effect i think the kid should wear a dark shirt and (although i'm not entirely sure of this) there should be more space around the boy.
