Thanks Doyle. I“m glad you enjoyed it and the info that I gave Marlyce about the roof. The roof is more expensive than other types of roofs, so the tradition is not being preserved fully. I think about 50.000 houses, farms and museums have this kind of roof in Denmark now, but in the old days most roofs where like this.

Very striking composition Annemette - I could see this roof was old but never thought it can be that age! Congratulations on the PoD. Regards.

Wow! Stunning news in your response to Marlyce and a great, Very Well composed B&W shot here. Piero's right . . . this is well seen and award worthy. I am absolutely entranced by the roof you describe and, no doubt, have come to see as common (which it is in your neck of the world). Wonderful stuff!

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Dear Marlyce
Thanks for your comment and for adding me as a friend. My friends“list is limited, so maybe I ought to become a UFdonor, too:-)
My small farm is from 1777 with a thatched roof made out of canes? from different lakes. On top of the roof there is a layer of heather that protects the roof from the sun. On top of the heather are the wooden sticks made out of oak which helps keep the heather gathered. Some use hay instead of heather because it“s cheaper, but it lasts for a much shorter time, and it“s not as nice to look at either. The thatched roof can last for about 20-25 years where it faces south and on the northside it can last for 50 years. It“s an old Danish tradition and a "healthy" one. The roof can "breathe":-)Maybe I“ll put a photo of my place here on UF:-)
Take care,
Annemette

Good shot of the moon, and I would never guess that was a roof. Can you explain the roof a little more?

This really is a striking image Annemette. How you see these things. And so effective in B&W. I would never have seen it as a roof. Brilliant to have caught that moon. (PS thunderstorms and very heavy rain now in the heat! Hope you avoid that- can't take a picture and it is scary!)
