Another superbly detailed landscape with great depth my friend. The colours and textures to this are just wonderful. Your vertical format is equally stunning but I'm not sure that James Cook's crop is that important enough of a change. Mark you Don, that's my view and I'm a person who always seems to be in trouble over his crops:):):) Sorry to be late, had a busy weekend, so I'm catching up again. My very best wishes to you as always.....Ray

Hi Petal, I just this week bought a backup hard drive for everything. I hope I don't need it but good insurance. My wife is much better now. Still not much stamina but doing very well. Thanks for asking. Don.

Yeah, I like the rock too. Just seems that what you are trying to do with this shot doesn't involve the rock, so it ends up on the cutting room floor. Anyway, great work. Keep it up.

Wonderful old tree on the right!! Great colors and textures, excellent composition... love it how you've lined up the trees and left enough space so that the 'columns' in the distance are visible... well captured!! Have a great weekend... hope your wife is doing ok... had a format C 'event' lost nothing but for some e-mails/adresses... sure enough I was just planning to back-up... duh... ;-D

Yes James, that is a great crop. I guess I was looking at that rock in the foreground and wanted to include it in the picture. Thanks for explaining what you wanted me to do. Don.

I particularly like the placement of the Juniper, the height of the root seems to make you focus in on it and it is interesting. I understand what KJames is saying and it's hard to tell until you see it cropped with ij the manner in which he defines.
Nice colors and really nice background.
Best wishes, Dave

I'm sorry. Descriptions sometimes won't do it. Here is a crop of the original post to show what I was talking about in the bottom of the image. I would go higher than this, but of course I can't do that using the original post. I don't know about including the entire (front) tree as it's larger than I thought, but following a line similar to that in my crop might complete the new balance. I like the landscape orientation. Hope that's at least slightly more useful.

Very nice composition, Don. I like this wide angle, horizontal composition better than the verticle you show in your comment. This image has wonderful depth and the eye seems to be led into the picture. Well done! Larry

I like this. Your lens curve has added a sense of drama to the scene. I think I would have shot slightly higher, perhaps using the large juniper to demark my two right hand corners (exposed root, LR; peak, UR).
