Hi Ace, Thank you for your comments! Yes, this is another perspective that I had not fully considered since I was playing around with the colors and wanted to bring out the shades of the stones, the wooden rail and greens/browns in the foreground.
Yes, B&W does give it a more powerful look. I will play around with this some more and may repost. I did not take that many shots of this rail with different compositions, my fear of the high speed train prevented me :-)
Hello Joel, Thank you very much for your comments. You gave me a different perspective! What I had actually liked in this image was the detail of the stones and how it's random shapes contrasts with the lines of the rail - abstracty as you mentioned. I took the picture very low on the ground to get this detail.
But yes, cropping out the stones does make the image much more pleasant to the eye. As for the colors, I warmed up the image a bit and saturated the colors in PS. Still learning PS so I'm pleased with results of this one. I guess, my best so far (digital darkroom techniques) since I tend to go very bright with my colors. Patience helps.
ncie creative shot brother! DOF seems blury hot like u know what i mean ... very interesting detials :) excellent try B&W and give it some contrast ... may look classy :)
Very nice photo! I love the shallow DOF, and the very intense detail in the foreground, but I think that are of the rocks is hurting this image a bit.
The lines are so powerful, and the shapes of color are so contrasty with each other, then by having that large rocky area on the bottom is forcing your eye to the 3rd of the image where it's not pleasing to see.
yeah...might make the image a bit 'abstracty', but it relaxes the image a bit. hope you don't mind, I took a try at a crop (attached). I'm an abstract freak.
Your colors are outstanding, and very well balanced, and I like your high horizon crop. Makes me feel like i'm walking the tracks!
