Hi Pat,
Thank you so much for your response! I surely will let you know! For now, I've been able to get fairly sharp images from my 80-400mm tracking birds, but the keepers are really low.
I'm contemplating the 200-400mm seriously now, i think I'll have to sell a couple of my other lens to offset the huge price. Hope to see more of your pics with this nice lens. Take care!

Jinggoy - Thanls for your comments. Solrry it has taken me so long to respond (I have been out of town for the last 8 days). The 200mm f2 VR is without a doubt my best lens. The number one drawback is its' weight (about 7 pounds, not including the camera body). I have handheld using the VR and have gotten nice results down to 1/15 of a second. But, if you get it - try keeping it on a monopod or tripod. I use it manly on a manfrotto monopod with ball head. As far as the 400mm options? I would go after the 200mm-400mm. It is a newer more advanced lens. Its' main drawback is the f4. But if you don't plan to need an extremely low light lens - it should be a great choice. The reason I got the 200 f2 was my upcoming needs in stage photography and football shooting from sidelines. As a matter of fact - the 200mm-400mm was my next choice. Let me know what you end up doing.

Hi Pat,
Great shot! Love the colors. Not sure though if the landscape is indeed sloping.

I have a question on your lens - 200mm VR, are you able to handhold this easily? Have you tried this with a 2X converter? Still searching for my bird lens and I'm ready to plop down some serious money for a 400mm f4 or their 200-400mm... You're the only I 'know' here on UF that uses this lens (maybe others) but not a lot of Nikon users here with the big lens. Appreciate your inputs.

Very picturesque shot, Pat! I like all the colour and you've got a great sky for it.
Dave.

Excellent image, Pat! I does not feel like a telephoto shot because of the crop. You have done a great job of capturing the clouds, too.
