Very cool. I aswell have a picture of mammatus clouds (http://www.usefilm.com/Image.asp?ID=851839). No where near as defined as those, nice shot.

It's a great capture of a somewhat unusual cloud formation, for most of us, anyway, Larry!

Woah! It looks like a sky full of cotton balls. Nice capture. I agree with Peta, the trees add a lot.

Yes, indeed those are real clouds (see my comment for an explanation)

Yes, this is a perfectly side-lit evening mammatus formation! Mammatus clouds are caused by the cold air in the thunderstorm sinking rapidly, and are indicative a mesoconvective scale (severe) storm.

this is really beautiful...ethereal!

Wow, they are mammatus clouds. Usually show up after the worst of a thunderstorm has gone by. Awesome Larry! Great that you included the trees. You should have a go at reducing the noise.

You think I went nuts on the liquify filter??, no thats really the clouds, grainy from probably a low res scan of the slide. The branches in foreground were tops of my arborvitea trees that were in my front yard at that time.

Okay Larry, now ya' really got me here! I've not seen anything like this before, I'm happy to see some old Ektachrome, but this composition is very bizarre. You're not pulling my leg right? This is the real deal??? WOW! -john
