This is probably a little late, but that "noise" you talk about which i can see also are called artifacts & is caused by highly compressed JPEGS.
I noticed that the uploaded image is only 100Kbytes in size. Try and use the whole of the 400Kbytes allowed by UseFilm. this will solve all your problems.
BTW, let's just say you had an original image that was 3000 X 2000 pixels, when it is reduced in size to just say 850 X 600 for use with UseFilm, that image will appear clearer in the sense by having less noticeable noise.

take care.

yep, the resized version.

it's really not that big of a deal, tho. it seems to happen no matter where i upload it.
and i've noticed it's been standing out to me more and more as i've been craving a newer, better camera a lot lately. haha

Ah, but are you opening the full-resolution image, or the re-sized, upload to Usefilm image? I would suspect the former.

In that case, I would suggest hold off on sharpening your image until AFTER you have re-sized the Usefilm image, Stace.

Oh, ok. I see all the 'sparklies' now that I look closer. It could be from over-sharpening, Stace.

i see noise everywhere! especially in the eyes, which always bugs me the most because they are my favorite and strongest feature.

but, if noone else can see it, i guess i shouldn't complain, eh? ;D

...I'm not seeing the noise, Stace.
This is almost painterly; especially the hair.
