I really like the two colors of the drying earth. I wonder if a left-right division would be preferable here (instead of a top-bottom division)?

Nature can offer great patterns for filling the whole frame of a photo. Like this one here, which gets even more enhanced by the division into two parts. The same pattern in lighter and darker hues, combined with very good sharpness, makes it to an abstractoid out of very natural things. Abstract arts and nature go hand in hand here!

Have a nice day,

Nick

I like the tonal quality. I wonder if turning over (putting the heavy dark to the bottom) might give a better balance to the shot?

You have taken the ordinary and made it into an intriguing picture. It looks like a section of stained glass in B&W. The little various speckles add a lot of character. I think it is quite eye appealing.

A great capture Greg and wonderful patterns in nature. I especially like the wet portion, but the whole image is awesome and makes a great abstract, very nice light and tones...very well done...:)

I think it's a simple and excellent photograph. The interface between dry and wet. And I also find such mud crack patterns interesting just in itself.
