Hey Dan:
I'm usually not a big fan of the B+W and color pop treatment, but I do appreciate the composition. After chasing around a few butterflies this weekend I think that this turned out really nice.
Some good DoF, interesting focal point, the Bokeh is a little flat, but you can't really control the characteristics of the lens. Overall a good shot.
The only thing to watch for is blown highlights and maybe adding a sharpening filter right before posting at this uf resolution as images tend to soften out in resizing.

I am usually a huge fan of selective colouring but in this case I suspect the butterfly would have held its own in standing out without your help, the resulting colour contrast almost makes the butterfly look painted in which obviously it isn't, would love to see you post the original.........

Wonderful use of selective coloring. I can't imagine this image being nearly as strong without it! You achieved great DOF as well. Very nice job on this one...I could see it as a postcard. :) ~Sheryl

The selective colouring ensures the subject grabs our attention. A very striking image. CC
