I took this for the newspaper a few weeks ago. This guy was on a TV talent show, he did rather well but I never did find out whether he won or not - he played the drums with amazing skill, it was a pleasure to be in his home studio, being deafened and photorgaphing him!
Desaturated the original, adjusted levels and contrast. I bounced the speedlite off the ceiling.
All the drums together are like anemones in a sea! Yeah love how you captured his face. You know me, I like bright whiteness and I think it needs that space on the right side too but the angles of the room become even more important if cropped there...but overall, without the space there I think it wouldn't capture his personality as much, as you don't associate such a big character with a small room. I do like the angle. Well done! Nadia
Hi Mervo, You got his face just right and captured his persona. Most important as far as I'm concerned. I might have cropped away a lot of the bright white on the right hand side myself. But that's just personal preference. Do you know of Annie Liebovitz's work for Rolling Stone Magazine? I'm sure you do :) If not check out her work. It is fantastic.
